About Me

My photo
Balatou
Adantohoe= The Healer who uses herbs. Naete is a woman who cooks very sweet stew. Mono is a river but it is also a spirit. the sky is called Sogbo & the wind is called Minona our mother, our mother & no one can see them. Naete is the consort of Mono. Houno is the supreme chief of the sea. Legba is the crossroads. The maracas are the twins in our world. Loko & the Ayizan are the friends of the farmers, healers because of their closeness to the earth & the herbs. Damballah is the big snake the same size with the Anaconda of the Amazon. Agwe and Lasirene are the ocean & the mermaid of the Imamou. The bishop holding the fish is a good friend Agwe. Where are we going? Where have we been? The Rada spirits of the Fon & the Ewe tribes of Dahomey ( modern day Benin) and the Nago spirits of Yorubaland ( modern day nigeria). The Ghede's propensity for dirty jokes mirror the foul-mouthed dead spirits of Arawak and Taino indians culture. The Taino word for " mountainous," ayiti in the new world became the name by which the Africans knew their new home and the name which we know Haiti today.
